Thomas Clayson has been named the 2025 New Zealand Young Golfer of the Year.

The Year 11 College student joins an incredible list of Eagles Golfing Society title winners, including Lydia Ko, Steven Alker, Philip Tataurangi, and Cooper Moore.

The award recognises his outstanding performances and commitment to the game throughout the season, with Thomas having beaten several national representatives.

Thomas finished 5th at the U16 South Island Championships and 6th at the U16 New Zealand Championships. He also made the cut at the Pegasus Charles Tour event, lining up against leading professionals. Most impressively, Thomas reached the top 16 at the New Zealand Amateur Championship and made the Canterbury Match Play semi-finals.

Thomas will play in the No. 1 spot for Aorangi at the upcoming Men’s National Interprovincial Championship in Manawatu in December.
