Christ’s College crews race to Maadi medals
Two College crews have lined up in the U18 coxed eight Maadi Cup A Final at Lake Ruataniwha near Twizel on Saturday, with the top boat finishing second in the premier rowing event.
The top crew – George Cochrane, Oscar Todhunter, Fergus Johnston, Charlie Poulter, Max Harris, Bruno Vaughan, Alex Speight, Hamish Grigg and cox Henry King – won silver in a time of 6:07.22, coming home behind Hamilton Boys’ High School.
A second College crew – Nicholas Brown, Charlie Dalling, Tom Picton-Warlow, Raymond Brooks, Luke James, Lachlan McVicar, Charles Beale, Harry Burt and cox Oli Aikawa – finished sixth in the A Final.
In the U17 coxed eight A Final on Friday, the College crew of George Cochrane, Oscar Todhunter, Fergus Johnston, Charlie Poulter, Max Harris, Charles Beale, Alex Speight, Charlie Dalling and Henry King picked up a bronze medal. All the support of coaches, sponsors and parents has played a big part in a successful regatta.
