Christ’s College centre stage for Theatresports SI Final

29 Aug 2025

Stage stars Charlie Wood, Cole Moffatt, and Oliver Sloan have outplayed most of their rivals to finish runners-up in the Senior Theatresports Canterbury contest and set the scene for a spot at the South Island Final this Sunday at The Court Theatre.

In the opening blind round, Christ’s College took a starring role to lead by two points, then continued an impressive run in the choice round, before finishing one point short of top spot following the challenge round at the regional competition.

For Charlie, “engaging in theatresports not only grows teamwork and communication skills, but also encourages creativity, confidence, and a sense of community”.

“Making it to the South Island Final is an awesome opportunity to spread the joy of improv,” he says.

Cole adds that “being a part of this team has taught me to play with the cards I’ve been dealt, both on and off the stage”, and “learn to roll with the punches, as well as having fun”.

“Being given the opportunity to perform in the South Island Final is amazing and doing it with such great people makes it that much more fun.”

Oliver also believes that theatresports offers “a fantastic opportunity for individuals to challenge themselves with improv”.

“For me, it has been a roller coaster of both learning and having so much fun on stage with my wonderful team,” he says. “It is extraordinary that we are competing in the South Island Final, and we are grateful for the opportunity. I am looking forward to having lots more fun.”

College will take the stage against Riccarton High School, Nelson College, and Trinity Catholic College in the South Island Final at 6.30pm on Sunday at The Court Theatre.
