AJ Madondo on fast track at NZ championships
AJ Madondo has finished 2nd place in the senior triple jump and 3rd in the senior 100m at the National Secondary School Track and Field Championships in Inglewood.
Coached by Matt Thatcher, AJ has also been named in the New Zealand Secondary School Athletics Association representative team.
All five College athletes have impressed among strong competition at the nationals, with three boys being the youngest in their age groups.
Year 9 student Dylan Jackson has competed in the U16 grade while Year 11 students Riley Diver and Armani Lemalu have stepped up in the U19 grade. Armani, who has had to throw heavier weights in the new age category, has done very well to make the top six in the discus while Riley has achieved a personal best in the pole vault despite the heavy rainfall.
