Run like the wind
16 May 2018
It was a goldilocks kind of day – not too hot, not too cold, but just right – and perfect conditions for our annual cross country on Monday 7 May.
The course traversed north Hagley Park, starting near the Armagh Street bridge, stretching as far as Harper Avenue and Carlton Corner, and back along the Avon River, with distances of 3km, 4km and 5km depending on age and grade.
This whole school event epitomises College and House spirit, with competitive and fun runners alike – including some intrepid staff members – lined up shoulder to shoulder waiting to start, and an enthusiastic crowd of teachers and families supporting and encouraging the athletes. Even boys who confess they never run admit to enjoying the cross country and it is their willingness to give it a go and rise to the challenge that makes it such a success.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone, in particular MiC Athletics Graeme Christey and his crew, who helped make this year’s cross country another memorable College event.
