Old Boy off to prestigious Georgia Tech
11 May 2018
Old Boy Chris Jung will be off to one of the top American computer science universities in August – and has no doubt College helped him get there.
The 2017 Year 13 student has just accepted a place at Georgia Institute of Technology (or Georgia Tech for short), which enjoys a phenomenal international reputation and has been ranked 8th in the world for computer science by Times Higher Education in 2018.
“With the holistic approach that universities now take in selecting students, I am certain that I would not have been admitted to Georgia Tech without the various opportunities the school provided.
“Thanks to the school, I was able to discover new interests such as badminton and choir. These not only gave my application a new dimension, but also gave me hobbies for life.
“Through Christ’s College I received financial aid to study in Australia for the Informatics Olympiad, which greatly improved my skills to an internationally competitive level.
“Furthermore, I was given the opportunity to run my own programming group which allowed me to share my knowledge and develop leadership skills.
“The support for Olympiad was also fantastic, with financial aid through school allowing me to study informatics in Australia, which greatly improved my skills to an internationally competitive level.
“I want to express my thanks to Christ’s College for supporting me and allowing me to attend a world class university.”
Chris will start his studies at Georgia Tech in August when the new northern academic year begins and meanwhile may be seen around the College campus volunteering with IT related work.
