Moments to treasure
05 Jun 2019
Most grandparents treasure time spent with their grandchildren, and there was a tangible sense of love and pride evident among the grandparents and grandsons at College on Grandparents’ Day.
This year’s event, on Friday 31 May, saw more than 100 grandparents welcomed on campus. They attended a special Chapel service with their grandsons, before the boys took them on a tour of the school. Their visit finished with a shared morning tea in the Chapman Room.
Some grandfathers were Old Boys, delighted their grandsons were following in their footsteps and keeping family traditions alive. For others, it was their first time through the College gates, and they appreciated the insight it gave into the school that has become such a big part of their grandsons’ lives.
Grandparents’ Day is an important way to celebrate community, a modern tradition to maintain.
