Teddy Tahu Rhodes – giving his time while treasuring his talent
A masterful class from opera star – and Old Boy – Teddy Tahu Rhodes (9756) set the stage for a rare opportunity for a trio of Christ’s College singers to learn from the best.
The acclaimed baritone returned to his old school to share his skills with the next generation of College performers in the Music Centre.
Singing alongside Mike Ma, Harry Vaughan, and James Burt, Teddy explained the nuances of each boy’s performance as he strives to inspire as a mentor.
Teddy was in Christchurch for a concert launching a partnership between UC Music and the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music, where he has been appointed to the Classical Voice faculty.
Meanwhile, Teddy and fellow Old Boy Jared Holt starred in Wellington Opera’s production of ‘Tosca’ at the St James Theatre in mid-September. Both renowned singers, Jared featured as Cavaradossi and Teddy as Scarpia.
