Former College cox Sam Bosworth (13830) is setting a hot pace as a member of the men’s eight on course to represent New Zealand at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The crew qualified for the Games – set to start in late July – at the 2021 World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland last month after winning the final in five minutes 35.73 seconds.

Originally from North Canterbury, Sam, who represents the Avon Rowing Club, began rowing in 2009 at Christ’s College. He steered his College crew to victory at the Maadi Cup in 2012 before being selected for the national junior men’s coxed four, and taking gold at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Bulgaria the same year. He has now won numerous medals and titles, including becoming the first male to cox a women’s crew to a world rowing title.
