College family matters for Pyatt generations
Tom Pyatt – a grandson of former College Warden Bishop Allan Pyatt (1966–83) – was ‘reacquainted’ with his well-known grandfather during a recent visit to the Christ’s College Dining Hall.
Tom, who was a guest speaker at College for our Career Convos series in March, took the time to visit the Dining Hall to view his grandfather’s portrait.
A Project Manager for Naylor Love, Tom came to College to share his expertise with Years 11–13 students, speaking about his career and outlining the many pathways open to boys wanting to work in building and construction.
Along with his grandfather, Tom’s father and uncle were also connected to College as members of Julius House.
Bishop Pyatt CBE was Dean of Christ Church Cathedral from 1962–1966 before being appointed as fifth Bishop of Christchurch in 1966. He was regarded as a “thoughtful, forward-thinking man” who recognised the importance of biculturalism.
For our upcoming Career Convos, we are looking for Old Boys from the fields of engineering, architecture and digital technology who can share their experiences with our senior students at one of our breakfast sessions.
