He flew around the world as a cabin crew with Thai Airways for more than a decade, operated a pub and restaurant in Bangkok and is just launching a new activewear business.

Varis Kamolchotiros (12433) doesn’t like to sit still.

With his parents keen for Varis to have an overseas education, he and his two brothers, Varot (12434) and Nui (12964), boarded at Christ’s College between 1998–2002.

After three years, he moved to Washington for his freshman year at Green River Community College before heading back to Bangkok in 2003 to complete a degree in Tourism Management and later his Masters in Labour Economics.

Varis enjoys people so it was no surprise that he joined Thai Airways, working as cabin crew internationally from 2007–2020 while also gaining his PPL (Private Pilot Licence) with IR (Instrument Rating) which he still renews annually.

After leaving the airline, he ran a pub and restaurant specialising in Japanese cuisine with live Thai music.

“It was something the Thai market had never experienced but unfortunately we were

heavily affected during Covid and never fully recovered, so we sold the business and I took over Varot’s automotive journalism company,” Varis says.

“We focus on news reporting, and creating content about the auto industry covering industry trends, new car models, test drives etc. You can find us on Facebook, Youtube, Website (https://autostation.com/).”

But Varis has also launched a new activewear range dubbed 1MOR.

“My business partner and I started the business out of passion for the fitness industry. We saw the lack of quality products in the market that are reasonably priced. Everything is still in the preliminary stage but our goal is very simple – to make high quality activewear at a price everyone can afford.”

Working with his business partner, Varis concentrates on business development, product sourcing, and all things financial. He will also be delving into creating his personal content on Tiktok (CEO branding).

In his spare time, Varis still flies so that he can keep up his pilot’s licence and works out three or four times a week.

“I live a physically active lifestyle, thanks to Christ’s College's upbringing and all the sports it has to offer, shaping me to be who I am today.”

Varis was one of our Old Boys who attended the recent Community Visit in Bangkok where he caught up with school friend Nick Hodgson who he hadn’t seen in 28 years. Nick now lives in Singapore.
