Cardiologist in the making

Uddaka Wijesinghe (13644) is a young doctor in Auckland, who attended Christ’s College 2006-2010.

After finishing at College, he was accepted into the competitive medicine programme at Otago University. After six years of study, he received his PhD and joined Middlemore Hospital’s cardiology unit.

His future plans include specialist training, an overseas fellowship and an eventual return to Christchurch. But the skills he learnt at school continue to stick with him today.

“College equipped me with a strong work ethic and sense of service, for which I am grateful. I owe a great deal to the guidance of teachers, friends, and the culture at College, which played a significant part in my development to date,” he says.
