Head Prefect asks the school to stand. Greets the school. Asks for silence as he says a prayer.
Quote of the week
Today we recognise those who have achieved academically. It is a great opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication that has paid off for these individuals. However, there will be some of us, who despite our best efforts, haven't had the outcome that we were looking for. There is a great saying, "Success lies not in the result but in the effort. Being the best is not at all important, doing the best is all that matters." The message here is we shouldn't define our year by what marks we got or what scholarship we won, but rather the amount of effort that was put into doing it. We don't all have to be Einstein's to be successful as it is such a personal and individual thing. Ultimately, you are your own judge of how well you went.
Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts." For those of you who have done well, I applaud you. However, don't let this be the end of it. What can you do this year to build on what you have achieved? Keep striving to be better, continue to push yourself. Likewise, if the results weren't what you were after, don't worry, the sun will still rise. As Churchill said, "It is the courage to continue that counts." This year provides an opportunity to have another crack. Remember, it's all about the effort.
