College athletes had a strong showing at the recent Canterbury championships, winning 14 championship titles, 11 second places and seven third places, plus achieving a number of personal best performances.

Year 11 students Sam Idiens and Charlie Cameron set new Canterbury records. Sam again demonstrating his running prowess with an outstanding performance in the U15 3000m, and Charlie leaping to new heights in the U16 pole vault.

Congratulations to the team for their enthusiasm, hard work and dedication in their chosen events, and heartfelt thanks to the coaches and teachers who support them in their endeavours.

The Canterbury Secondary Schools Athletics Championships 2019 finals day was on Saturday 23 March, with some events held on preliminaries day on Tuesday 19 March. It was held at the new Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub in excellent conditions.
